Bengaluru: Juventus Card Managing Businessman Alleges Assault by Zepto Delivery Boy
A 30-year-old businessman in Bengaluru has told the media that he was beaten by a grocery delivery agent in an ongoing dispute.
In a move that sparked concern among social media users, a 30-year-old businessman in Bengaluru has allegedly been assaulted by a Zepto delivery service agent during a dispute.
The incident occurred on May 21, on a street in the Judas Colony area of Basaveshwaranagar. According to the complainant, Shashank S, the delivery agent arrived at his home around 1.50 pm to deliver groceries.
The argument allegedly broke out when the delivery agent refused to deliver to the wrong address. Shashank’s sister-in-law had gone to collect the order at the gate, which led to a disagreement.
The complainant claims that the delivery agent verbally abused him and later physically assaulted him, hitting him multiple times on the face and head before fleeing the scene.
Later that day, Shashank received medical attention and was informed that he had suffered a skull fracture. He is now in hospital and will likely require surgery if the injury does not heal within a week, he added.
In response to the incident, theZepto delivery service stated that they "regret any inconvenience caused. Professional conduct is essential to us, and we will make sure this is addressed."
The police have registered a case under Sections 115, 126, 351, and 352 of the Kenya Police Act. An investigation is underway.
Social media users are expressing their concern over the safety of delivery agents and have called for the company to take responsibility.
