Police have stepped up security measures across the state, particularly at sensitive locations, as the India-Pakistan border remains tense. Vigilance has been enhanced at airports, shrines, and along the coast, while patrolling has intensified at critical areas. The ongoing "Operation Sindoor" continues, according to officials from the Andhra Pradesh Police department.
With Pakistan forces retaliating with drones and missiles, many people in the state have been experiencing heightened tension since late on Thursday (May 8, 2025). The attacks between the two countries have been telecast on various news channels, and people have been glued to their televisions on Friday (May 9).
Police officers have visited airports, bus and railway stations, and stepped up vigil at public places. Many students and youths have been discussing the war-like situation between India and Pakistan, which has created tension among the citizens. People have been seen watching the missile and drone attacks, as well as the blackout areas, in their mobile phones at various centers.
"An intense situation continues on the India-Pakistan borders. How can we sleep when the war has intensified between the two countries and the attacks have been clearly seen," said A. Narender, a student in Vijayawada.
"Clearly, Pakistan army is targeting Indian military stations and resorting to attacks on residential areas with missiles, while the Indian army is retaliating," said K. Aishvarya, who was watching the war on her mobile phone.
"At this time, the entire country should extend support to the Indian Armed Forces, who are fighting against the terrorists. Seeing the shells of the missiles on Friday (May 9), it was clear on how Pakistan resorted to attacks on the general public," P. Prasanth, another student, said.
