Vizianagaram Police Chief Urges Public to Control Alcohol Use
Vizianagaram Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal has called on the public to help curb alcohol consumption in public spaces, warning that it can lead to disturbances and spread bad habits. Jindal asked people to inform police stations if they spot someone "open drinking."
Since receiving this directive, police have begun using drones to identify those consuming alcohol in various locations such as Phoolbagh, Kanapaka, and Ayyannapeta. This is because young people prefer outlying areas to avoid police and local scrutiny.
The police department has logged around 15,500 cases between July 2024 and the second week of June 2025.
Jindal also emphasizes the potential dangers of public alcohol consumption, noting that it may cause fear among locals, particularly women and girls, and could involve anti-social elements.
Through drones and footage, police are identifying cards being played in groves, parks, and public places.
