Chief Minister M.K. Stalin Celebrates Supreme Court Victory
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin celebrated the Supreme Court’s decision to grant assent to 10 Bills passed by the Tamil Nadu State Assembly. The verdict, which upheld federalism, was a significant victory for Tamil Nadu and the people’s rule.
In a meeting to honor the lawyers who argued the case, Stalin said, "The Supreme Court has given the States freedom from the Union government. This ensures that the powers of the State will be protected." He also praised the lawyers for their arguments, which he termed a victory for federalism.
Stalin emphasized that the verdict is not just for Tamil Nadu but for the rights of State governments and the people’s rule. He called it a big victory for democracy, as Peraringnar Anna and Kalaignar (M. Karunanidhi) had fought for autonomy for the State and federal government.
Former editor-in-chief of The Hindu, N. Ram, praised the judgment as "magnificent and inspiring." He urged the Governor to resign if he has any self-respect. Ram also noted that the outcome of the Kerala case would be equally interesting.
The Supreme Court’s decision has given the State the confidence to form a committee for States autonomy. This verdict will help Tamil Nadu win its struggle for autonomy and strengthen democracy.
