Tinnu Anand Faces Backlash for Threatening Stray Dogs
Veteran actor Tinnu Anand has faced backlash after a threatening message he sent to animal lovers went viral. The message, which warned them to take stray dogs away or face consequences, sparked outrage among animal rights activists, local residents, and online users.
Following the uproar, a local resident named Aanchal Chaddha lodged a complaint at the Versova Police Station, prompting authorities to get involved. The police instructed Anand to issue a written apology.
The threatening message read: "Have come back after a horrifying shoot to be greeted by terrifying dogs barking and not knowing who to bite next… Challenge taken. Have a hockey stick to face them… am warning all dog lovers hereon… take them home OR then face my wrath… my society is given advance notice."
Mumbai Police officer Sudhir Kudalkar, who is also an animal rights advocate, informed The Free Press Journal that Tinnu has been instructed to issue a written apology. Kudalkar highlighted that the actor’s message contained threats toward stray dogs, which are protected under Indian law. The Supreme Court has repeatedly upheld their right to exist peacefully in their natural habitat.
Kudalkar explained that the stray dogs in the area are vaccinated, sterilised, and protected by law. He commended the residents who care for them, emphasizing that their actions are commendable and should be supported rather than feared. He also stressed that no one, whether a celebrity or not, is above the law and that everyone should strive to set a positive example. He urged people to unite against cruelty and let compassion be the guiding principle of society.
