Pahalgam Attack Fallout: Farmer Leader Rakesh Tikait Faces Public Wrath
Rakesh Tikait, the leader of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), was manhandled by the public in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, over his comments regarding the Pahalgam terror attack. During the protest, the situation became tense, and the police had to escort Tikait out of the place. However, Tikait is safe and unharmed.
Following the Pahalgam terror attack, Tikait made controversial statements, saying that the attack was carried out by those who benefit from a Hindu-Muslim narrative and that those responsible are roaming among the people of India. He also indirectly blamed the Narendra Modi government for the attack, instead of naming and shaming Pakistan.
Tikait’s remarks did not sit well with the public, who demanded a strong action against Pakistan for the terror attack. He faced a massive protest in Muzaffarnagar, where people demanded an apology from him for his comments.
The April 22 Pahalgam terror attack claimed the lives of 26 innocent people, mainly tourists. Interestingly, even opposition parties like AIMIM and Congress have voiced support for the Narendra Modi government in taking appropriate action against the perpetrator of the terror attack.
