Ajay Devgn’s Crime Thriller Raid 2 Surges to Third-Highest Gross in 2025
Ajay Devgn’s crime thriller "Raid 2" has become the third-highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025, surpassing Salman Khan’s action thriller "Sikandar," which grossed Rs 184 crore globally. The film, starring Ajay Devgn and Riteish Deshmukh, is the direct sequel to "Raid" from 2018 and features Vaani Kapoor as Ajay’s wife, replacing Ileana D’Cruz. Supporting roles include Rajat Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla, Amit Sial, Brijendra Kala, Yashpal Sharma, and Govind Namdev.
In its first 13 days, "Raid 2" earned Rs 130.10 crore in India and Rs 174.25 crore worldwide. On its 14th day, May 14, it earned Rs 2.9 crore, bringing its global total to Rs 175 crore. The film is expected to become the second-highest-grossing film of the year, following Vicky Kaushal’s "Chhaava," which has grossed Rs 601 crore in India and Rs 808 crore worldwide.
Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, who also helmed the first part, "Raid 2" draws inspiration from real-life income tax raids, showcasing how officers from the Income Tax Department collaborate with intelligence agencies to investigate and expose white-collar criminal activities. The film is set to release on August 14, coinciding with the Independence Day weekend.
