Panchayat Season 4 Teaser Released by Prime Video India
The makers of the popular Hindi village drama series "Panchayat" have unveiled the teaser for Season 4. Directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra, the series is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on July 2, 2025.
Mishra, who also directed "Panchayat" Season 3, expressed his openness to the idea of creating a shared universe of village-themed stories. He shared this vision during the inaugural session of the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES).
Mishra mentioned that when he first began working on "Panchayat," there was no intention of creating a shared universe. However, he is open to the possibility, noting that it would be great if such a universe emerged, with stories that are both inter-dependent and independent.
The series has been one of the most critically-acclaimed shows for streaming service Prime Video, which recently released another village-themed show, "Dupahiya." The streamer is also set to release a third series in the genre with "Gram Chikitsalay."
Mishra emphasized that the success of "Panchayat" is due to the team’s commitment to authenticity. They ensured that the show’s world felt authentic by filming at real locations and keeping many things in mind while building that world.
Jitendra Kumar, who plays the lead role of Abhishek Tripathi in the series, revealed that he wasn’t even expecting to be part of "Panchayat." The initial concept was to tell the story set inside a panchayat office, similar to the US show "The Office." However, after recce and deeper research, they realized it couldn’t stay confined to the office, and he got involved as the Panchayat Sachiv.
When he first started shooting for the series, Jitendra was quite anxious as he didn’t know if things were landing right. He was worried about finding the right balance between subtler humor and loud jokes. However, the team at TVF assured him that he was on the right track.
