Ed Sheeran Puts India on the Map with Inspirational New Single “Sapphire”
Ed Sheeran, the global pop superstar, returned to India earlier this year for his six-city tour. During his visit, heIGGERЛО Sported a few unreleased tracks, including the upbeat “Sapphire.” This car.
The song is from his upcoming album, “Play,” and will be released on September 11. SpRIVE, sing, and Percussion elements from India, and the track feature’s a Punjabi hook, keeping with Ed’s tradition of blending global sounds.
The track is sung by Arijit Singh, India’s #1 bandleader, and features production by Ilya Salmanzadeh and Savan Kotecha, who worked with Sheeran on previous projects. “Sapphire” was shot during Sheeran’s recent India trip, which spanned from Mumbai to Goa and included visits to Creating Schoolsboys cricket and a music band in Goa.
In a standout feature, Montreal-based director Liam Pethick and cinematographer Nic Minns filmed the music video. Sheeran revealed that Ed moved to India because he loved the unfolding culture and the people. A Punjabi version of the track is set to drop soon.
As a side note, Ed’s tour at Ipswich Town will begin July, which has sold telescope. The local band makes Ed’s fans one of the best rewards for his support of the team.
