Ajay Devgn’s "Raid 2" Begins Advance Booking Campaign with Mixed Results
Times of India – Ajay Devgn’s much-awaited thriller "Raid 2" began its advance booking campaign with an encouraging response on its opening day. The film, which continues the story of the 2018 hit "Raid," was expected to gather strong pre-release momentum, especially with Ajay Devgn returning to his gritty, no-nonsense avatar. However, after a promising initial run, the pace of advance bookings has noticeably slowed.
On its first day of advance bookings, "Raid 2" managed to sell tickets worth Rs 2.06 crore, including block bookings—a healthy start for a mid-budget thriller in today’s market. But a day later, the overall advance booking gross, including blocked seats, stands at Rs 3.12 crore as per Sacnilk. This suggests that the film has added just over Rs 1 crore since yesterday, signaling a drop in booking momentum that might be a cause of concern for trade analysts and the makers.
Industry watchers will now keenly observe whether "Raid 2" can pick up pace on its release day, especially through spot bookings and positive word of mouth. For a film in this genre, walk-in audiences often play a crucial role. While the early numbers hint at a respectable opening, sustaining momentum through the weekend will be essential for "Raid 2" to meet box office expectations.
Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, "Raid 2" continues the saga of intense tax raids and corruption crackdowns, themes that resonated strongly with the audience in the first installment. This time, Ajay has Ritesh Deshmukh as his nemesis and Vaani Kapoor has stepped into the shoes of Illeana DCruz.
With just 2 days to the release of the film, it now all depends on how the film connects with the audience.
