A Scalable Biopic on India’s ‘Missile Man’
India’s esteemed scientist-turned-statesman, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, is set to headline a prestigious biopic titled "Kalam: The Missile Man of India." Renowned actor Dhanush has confirmed his lead role in the sweeping film, which premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.
Directed by "Adipurush" producer Om Raut, the film also stars Boman Irani and focuses on Kalam’s journey from his humble beginnings in Rameswaram to his groundbreaking work in India’s missile programs. The screenplay is penned by critically-acclaimed author Saiwyn Quadras, known for her hits like “Neerja” and “Maidaan.”
The story, based on Kalam’s book “Wings of Fire,” aims to depict not only the scientist but also the poet, teacher, and philosopher through their daily interactions. Director Om Raut describes Kalam as an ideal “statesman above politics,” and producer Abhishek Agarwal emphasizes the emotional and cultural significance of bringing Kalam’s story to the big screen.
To enhance the film’s presence, Bhushan Kumar participated in the Cannes red carpet. The production team, led by T-Series, promises to strive for excellence, making "Kalam: The Missile Man of India" a tribute to an abiding saintly figure.
