Google Introduces Scheduled Actions Feature for Its Gemini AI Assistant
Google rolled out a new feature called Scheduled Actions for its Gemini AI assistant, enhancing its productivity and personalization capabilities. This update, announced during the company’s I/O developer conference, is available to users on premium plans and through select Google Workspace business and education accounts.
With Scheduled Actions, users can instruct the AI assistant to perform specific tasks at designated times. For example, users can receive a morning summary at 9 AM summarizing their calendar events and unread emails. In the entertainment domain, users can set reminders to generate 5 blog topic ideas every Monday. Meanwhile, sports enthusiasts can schedule match updates.
The feature allows users to manage their tasks easily via a dedicated page in the Gemini app’s settings. This enhancement aims to reduce repetitive interactions and help users stay informed, organised, and inspired.
The feature is exclusive to premium users, aligning with Google’s strategy to add value to its paid AI services in the generative AI field. By delivering tailored updates at the user’s convenience, Google is making its AI assistant more proactive and user-friendly.
Meanwhile, Google is reportedly testing a new weather summary feature that provides users with short-text summaries of current weather conditions right in the mobile Search experience. This feature, currently limited in availability, provides users with a quick overview of the weather, including wind conditions, rain likelihood, atmospheric pressure, and temperature trends.
The breakthrough from Google spans two major advancements impacting productivity and public utility, further underscoring the establishment of an AI-powered era.
