Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, who assumed office after the BJP came to power in 2023, recently discussed his experiences and achievements as a pioneer at the helm of the state’s administration. Here are some key points from his interview with The Indian Express:
- Despite an initial learning curve, Sharma has seen significant achievements in Rajasthan. The state cooperation and legal support with the Union Home Ministry in response to the Pahalgam incident highlight coordinated efforts for border security.
- The government has fulfilled nearly half of the promises made in the 2023 manifesto, particularly in law and order and corruption measures, securing a significant amount in incoming investments for economic growth.
- The state’s efforts include the successful implementation of initiatives such as the Ujjwala Yojana, which has benefited nearly 7.28 million households by providing cooking gas at affordable rates. Additionally, the state launched the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme 2024 aimed at attracting industries, and the Mukhyamantri Vishwakarma Pension Scheme that offers financial security to artisans.
- Sharma has also justified the use of bulldozers in Rajasthan, stating that they were used lawfully in targeted responses against criminal activities, unlike the "UP model".

To empower the youth, the government has prioritized skill development and provided training to nearly 50,000 individuals, with a plan to hire 1.25 lakh youth in government jobs by 2025-26.
