Ahead of his historic journey to the International Space Station (ISS), Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla has termed the preparations for the Axiom-4 mission an "amazing journey" and that he was extremely fortunate to be part of something that is "much larger than yourself". Currently 39 years old and a veteran of the Indian Air Force (IAF), Shukla flight-ready and is all set to travel with three fellow crew members on June 10, 2025.

Shukla, nicknamed "Shux" by his colleagues, is now the second Indian to travel to space, following the historic solo mission of Rakesh Sharma in 1984. The Axiom-4 mission is poised to lift off from the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at 5:52 p.m. IST.
