Vin Diesel’s former assistant has successfully had four claims dismissed, following a ruling by Judge Daniel M Crowley, who found that Jonasson’s claims under California’s Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) were barred by the statute of limitations. However, several active claims related to employment discrimination, including sexual battery and wrongful termination, remain pending in the case.
Jonasson, who previously worked with Diesel in 2010, filed a lawsuit against the actor in 2023. She accused him of sexually assaulting her in that year. According to California law, such claims had previously fallen outside the typical statute of limitations, but the state recently revived expired sexual assault claims under the 2023 Sexual Abuse and Cover Up Accountability Act.
State law extended the deadline to file an administrative complaint with the state’s Civil Rights Department, a prerequisite under the FEHA, but not for Diesel’s lawsuit. The dismissed claims included allegations of employment discrimination, which will continue to move forward. Diesel’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, stated that the outlandish allegations were completely refuted as there was clear evidence.
Despite the lawsuit, Vin Diesel has several upcoming film projects, including Fast X: Part 2 and XXX 4, which are currently in various stages of development.
