Dear Readers,
We are deeply saddened to share the devastating news of Dia Mirza, one of India’s most beloved actresses, who recently opened up about a horrific experience as a mother. Dia’s premature birth of her son Avyaan Azaad Rekhi on January 3, 2021, sparked a heart-wrenching journey filled with emotional and medical challenges.
In a recent interview with Official People of India, Dia reflected on the intense emotional and medical set-backs she faced during her pregnancy. When she conceived, she embraced motherhood later than most, only to confront severe complications mid-way through her pregnancy.
"What happened to us was quite scary," Dia said, recalling the traumatic situation. Despite the severe bacterial infection caused by her appendix surgery in the fifth month, her placenta was bleeding and her body was entering sepsis.
"The doctors found that there was a hole in Avyaan’s intestine, so they did life-saving surgery 36 hours after his premature birth," Dia shared. During her hospital stay, she had to undergo a second surgery to correct the stoma—a procedure that left Avyaan with an exposed stoma at birth.
Despite the harrowing experience, what made Dia’s story even more poignant was the limited access she had to her newborn. She was only allowed to visit him twice a week, and could not hold him comfortably until he grew stronger, fearing any movement might traumatize her.
In addition, Dia got miffed with paparazzi, who sneaked a picture of her daughter. Things never went smoothly for Dia, who is sisters with actress Mehreen Pirzada. They were soon introduced to the world of Bollywood, thanks to the hands of one set of parents, producers Vaibhav and Sahil.
There’s no doubt that Dia Mirza’s motherhood tourney was nothing but a gripping saga filled with danger and challenges, succeeding in turning the tales of survival into triumphant stories. Keep enjoying fascinating newborn news with Babylo and stay tuned for more updates.
