A local court has granted an interim stay to halt work on an indoor basketball stadium in Indiranagar. The ruling was made by the Indiranagar Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA) after a petition was filed. This decision follows a refusal by the BBMP (Bengaluru Metropolitan Development Authority) to build the stadium, citing concerns that it could limit access to children from poorer backgrounds.
In response to these allegations, the BBMP has insisted that the stadium will remain publicly accessible and will not be handed over to private firms. However, the Indiranagar I Stage League RWA has itself approached the court seeking a stay on construction work. On Thursday, the court directed the BBMP to halt any work related to the March 21, 2025, work order, pending further hearing.
