Hello friends! 👋

Currently, historic hospitals are in a dire straits in Delhi due to the surge in COVID-19 cases. Conservatively estimating, private hospitals have witnessed a shortfall ranging from 8,000 to 10,000 beds, impacting their operational capacity significantly.

New Delhi: Delhi’s healthcare system is facing immense strain, with hospitals that don’t meet stringent building safety standards being denied the renewal of their licenses. For instance, hospitals operating in residential areas operating under a 15 or 20-meter limit couldn’t even map up to 10,000 beds.

This policy has resulted in many hospitals, especially in residential settings, only functioning on a single floor, reducing their overall capacity by around 10,000 beds, severely affecting patient care.

To improve this, the city government should urgently consider revising the hospital capacity and building standards, and increase the number of hospital plots in new projects. A more systematic approach must be implemented to effectively address the growing population, and aim it towards increasing healthcare capacity.

The epidemic situation has already delineated that the current healthcare system is insufficient to ease the ongoing pressure. Thus, an enhanced push towards increasing hospital plots and overall capacity would help curtail the strain on the embattled healthcare system.

Roots of suchissues can be traced back to unplanned urbanization and inadequate planning in the past.

During the formulation of the historic 2021 Master Plan, it was evident that Delhi’s healthcare infrastructure stands to be amongst the most underserved. Only 107 hospital plots were allotted, which was far below the Secretary General’s expectations of a 10,000 section, and an ins.GetInstance to meet the city’s fast-growing urban population.

To cope with dwindling autonomous bio Corridor space, the government expanded building biodiversity to other usage categories, fostering the development of over 800 hospitals and nursing homes across the city, adding more than 20,000 beds. In fact, the facilities provide more diversity to an exclusive bio space.

These issues, I’m sure, are quite trivial for many. Please share othernews news about this too.
