IPL 2025: Punjab Kings Struggle in Qualifier 1, All Out for Just 101 Runs
The batsmen of Punjab Kings put up a disappointing performance in the first qualifier of IPL 2025. None of the team’s batsmen were able to bat comfortably and stay at the crease. As a result, the team was all out for just 101 runs and couldn’t even complete the full 20 overs.
What Happened in the Match?
During the match, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma took an outstanding catch, a video of which is now going viral on social media. Jitesh Sharma caught Azmatullah Omarzai with a spectacular catch.
Jitesh Leaps to Take a Stunning Catch
Punjab Kings batsmen couldn’t handle RCB’s bowlers. RCB’s bowlers, including Suyash Sharma, Josh Hazlewood, and Yash Dayal, bowled superbly. Hazlewood bowled the 15th over for RCB. On the first ball of this over, Punjab’s batsman Azmatullah Omarzai tried to play a big shot. But the ball touched the edge of his bat and went high into the air. Wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma leaped high and, with a full Superman-style dive, caught the ball.
This was Punjab Kings’ 10th wicket, with Omarzai being the last to go. Jitesh’s catch was a big blow to Punjab Kings. Josh Hazlewood and Suyash Sharma took three wickets each for RCB, and Yash Dayal took two wickets. Because of these bowlers, Punjab Kings couldn’t score a big total.
Only Three Batsmen Reach Double Figures
Only three batsmen from Punjab Kings managed to reach double figures in their batting. Marcus Stoinis scored 26 runs, Azmatullah Omarzai made 18 runs, and Prabhsimran Singh scored 18 runs as well. The rest of the batsmen were in a hurry to leave the crease. Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Kyle Jamieson couldn’t even open their accounts. Due to the poor performance of the batsmen, the entire team was all out for just 101 runs.
