On Saturday, May 24, 2025, four people, including a wildlife activist, a forest department personnel, and two others, were tragically killed in a head-on collision during a search operation for poachers in the Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan, officials reported.

Four guests were inside their camper vehicle when it collided with a truck, resulting in the crushing of the vehicle and trapping the occupants, who had to be rescued via crane, according to the officials.
The victims have been identified as wildlife activist Radheshyam Pemani, Shyam Vishnoi, Kanvraj Singh, and forest guard Surendra Chaudhary, according to police.
โThe Chief Minister [Bhajanlal Sharma], former Chief Minister [Ashok Gehlot] and Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Chief [Govind Singh Dotasra] expressed their condolences to the staff who were dedicated to environmental and wildlife conservation,โ Sharma said.
โPemani’s [ji] contributions and passions regarding nature and wildlife were ะฝะฐััะพััy unforgettable.โ
Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot shared Pemani’s photo on X, expressing his grief over his death.
PCC Chief Govind Singh Dotasra also shared Pemaniโs photo and expressed sadness over the loss.
"Pemani [ji] made a noteworthy contribution in the cause of wildlife defense and ecological preservation. May vรกlko give peace and strength to the family inๆฟๅing this loss,โ she said.โ
