A boundary marker to demarcate the 2,00,001 acres of land belonging to temples under the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department across various parts of Tamil Nadu was symbolically placed on Wednesday near Sriperumbudur. Ministers T.M. Anbarasan and P.K. Sekarbabu jointly installed the stone on the land of Sri Valleeswarar temple, alongside officials, including Kancheepuram Collector Kalaiselvi Mohan, as per an official press release.
The HR&CE department inaugurated the project to identify and mark temple lands on September 8, 2012. All the stones contain the HR&CE engraving. A total of 1,00,001 acres have been identified and marked, with the help of 40 tahsildars, 172 licensed surveyors, and 36 DGPS rovers. The project was initiated at Kapaleeswarar temple on September 8, 2012. A 1,00,001-acre stone was placed at Tiruvallur on January 25, 2023, at the Sri Bhavani Amman temple’s property in Periyapalayam, as specified in the release.
