Bollywood News: Singer Rahul Vaidya Declines Turkey’s Offer Amid Row Over Support to Pakistan
Singer and reality TV personality Rahul Vaidya has piqued interest with his decision to reject a staggering Rs 50 lakh offer from Turkey, citing the country’s stance on India’s military operation in Pakistan. This choice comes after actress Rupali Ganguly called for a boycott of Turkey, criticizing its support for Pakistan.
In an interview with Bombay Times, Vaidya explained his decision: "The offer was lucrative—they were paying me Rs 50 lakh. But no amount of money could sway me regarding prioritizing national interest." He emphasized, "We have to stand by our nation; it’s not about me as an individual, but about the nation as a whole."
Vaidya, known for his prominent roles in Indian Idol and Bigg Boss, firmly states that patriotism is greater than any international exposure or financial gain. "I embrace my country and my people," he remarked. "I have no interest in collaborating with a nation that aligns itself against my country andnotin my interests."
He further noted the significant contributions Indians and Indian diaspora make to Turkey’s tourism and hospitality industry. Notably, at high-end destination weddings, Indians have grown Turkey’s富贵 industry such that Turkey responded by giving them revenue worth crores. "How can we go with a country that doesn’t respect us?" Vaidya asks.
This stance has ignited discussions across the entertainment industry about responsible global engagement and cultural diplomacy.
