Nepal’s Former Maoist Child Soldiers Protest Against Party

Former Maoist child soldiers, now in their 20s and struggling to find employment, have taken their protest to the office of the CPN (Maoist-Centre), the party led by Prime Minister Prachanda. The protesters, who were once part of the Maoist movement, have locked the party’s office, trapping seven of the leaders inside.

The protesters demand proper rehabilitation and compensation for their past service. At least six of the party’s leaders have reported being unable to leave the office, indicating a significant level of discontent among the former fighters.

This protest highlights the ongoing issues faced by Nepal’s former Maoist child soldiers, who are now seeking recognition and support from the government. The situation underscores the need for the government to address the rehabilitation and compensation of these individuals, ensuring they receive the support they deserve.
