The Election Commission (EC) has initiated interactions with national political parties, including the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) led by Mayawati. Mayawati raised concerns about the verification of votes using Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and the need for complete cross-verification with Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) slips. The EC, comprising Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and other commissioners, met with BSP leaders in Delhi. Mayawati also pressed for easier expenditure monitoring for candidates and emphasized the importance of error-free electoral rolls. The EC is set to interact with leaders from all national parties in the coming days, with the next meeting scheduled with BJP president J P Nadda on Thursday. The EC has emphasized fostering greater and regular engagement with stakeholders to address long-standing concerns.
