Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Vows Strong Response to Cross-Border Threats Amid India-Pakistan Tensions
New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today reiterated India’s unwavering resolve to counter cross-border terrorism, pledging to collaborate with the armed forces to deliver a decisive response to any external aggression.
This announcement comes amid escalating India-Pakistan tensions following the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which tragically claimed the lives of 26 tourists. Indian authorities have confirmed the involvement of Pakistan-based terror networks in the incident.
Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Singh assured citizens that the government’s actions will align with public sentiment demanding accountability. “Under PM Modi’s visionary leadership, India will take all necessary measures to safeguard national security,” he stated during an event in Delhi.
India has intensified its diplomatic and military stance by suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and banning Pakistani visas, citing Islamabad’s persistent use of terrorism as a state-sponsored tool. Recent ceasefire violations by Pakistani forces along the Line of Control (LoC) have been met with robust retaliation by Indian troops.
Historically, India has demonstrated its capability to neutralize threats through surgical strikes, including the 2016 operation against terror camps in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) and the 2019 Balakot airstrike targeting Jaish-e-Mohammed’s infrastructure. These actions underscore India’s commitment to preemptive defense strategies.
