Protest Against Wakf (Amendment) Act 2025 to Take Place in Mysuru
A protest against the Wakf (Amendment) Act, 2025, will be held at Eidgah Maidan in Tilak Nagar, Mysuru, on Saturday. The protest, organized by religious leaders under the banner of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), aims to oppose major changes to the Wakf Act of 2013 by the Centre under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The protest will take place between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday, guided by Sarkhazi Maulana Usman Sharief and led by Mufti Syed Tajuddin. It is supported by various progressive organizations, Dalit organizations, and farmers’ organizations.
Chairman of the Karnataka State Backward Classes Forum K.S. Shivaram, Mufti Syed Tajuddin, Maulana Mohammed Zakaulla, and Maulana Ayub Ansari were present at a press conference. Former Minister and Congress MLA Tanveer Sait and SDPI leader Abdul Majeed visited the Eidgah Maidan two days ago to assess the preparations for the demonstration.
The protest is a call for religious freedom and secular principles, and organizers believe it will lead to negative consequences and conflict with regard to wakf-related issues in the future.
