Excise officials were targeted by a young individual allegedly under the influence of MDMA near Edappally Toll Junction on Monday night (April 28).
At least three officials were reportedly injured in the incident. The accused was identified as Abu Tahir, 27, of Kanjirappally, Kottayam. Officials allegedly seized 500mg of MDMA and 50g of ganja from him.
Tahir reportedly turned violent after a team of excise officials intercepted him following a tip-off. The officials had to call for backup to overpower him and take him into custody.
